What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a popular skin treatment that reduces the appearance of wrinkles, acne scars, and other types of damage. The process involves piercing the skin’s surface with tiny needles that stimulate new collagen production and reduces inflammation in surrounding tissue.

How Does Genius RF Microneedling Work?

Genius RF microneedling works by penetrating the skin’s dermal layer using thicker needles than those found in typical treatments. Using radiofrequency (RF) energy creates heat and stimulates long-term collagen and elastin production by creating coagulation zones. These areas of micro-damage to the skin trigger the dermis to produce more collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. This leads to firmer, more lifted, and healthier-looking skin. 

While other methods of treatment create coagulation zones that involve the epidermis (outer layer of skin) they may have a longer recovery time and cause more discomfort. Because the Genius RF system directs its heat energy into the dermis for precise coagulation, it causes much less discomfort and allows for almost no downtime. 

Other treatment methods, such as lasers, not only have longer recovery times but can cause side effects such as hyperpigmentation caused by skin trauma or hypopigmentation, a loss of melanocytes that causes the area to appear lighter than surrounding skin. A condition called Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH) can happen as well by other treatments stimulating the pigment cells into overproduction of melanin as result of injury/stress.
