It’s been a warm and wet winter in the Valley and that means pollen counts are coming earlier than usual, bringing allergy season sooner! Not like you needed me to tell you that – everyone is coughing, sneezing, and rubbing their eyes and it doesn’t appear that it’s going to end any time soon!
Here are some quick tips to help alleviate your suffering:
- Saline, Saline, Saline – I can’t say this enough! Use saline spray to help clear out the congestion in your nasal passages. You will feel like a new person.
- Keep the doors and windows closed – I know this is a hard one with the beautiful weather we are having but it will keep the dust and pollen from invading your house and car. Also invest in good, high-efficiency air filters for your A/C and change them often.
- Exercise inside if possible – if you must get your run or hike in do it first thing in the morning or in the evening when pollen counts are at their lowest levels.
- Medicate if necessary – there are tons of great over-the-counter allergy medications available now. If these don’t cut it then see your doctor.
