Woman aren’t the only ones that can benefit from Botox
While more and more men are turning to anti-aging treatments, such as Botox, Kybella, CoolSculpting, and Ultherapy because they are quick and don’t require downtime, there are still a lot of myths and misconceptions out there –, especially about Botox. This week and next week I’ll go over some of the myths and concerns that we hear from our male patients and what to expect at a typical appointment.
MYTH #1
BOTOX will make you look like you’ve had work done or like one of the Real Housewives (yikes).
TRUTH:
Botox subtly smoothes the moderate to severe lines around your eyes and between your brows – making you look less tired or less angry/frustrated. It is critical to have an experienced injector to ensure the most natural results and to ensure you’ll still look like you. Dr. Maltais is considered an advanced injector of Botox and other injectables and both Nicole and Cheryl have extensive experience and continue to get training in the latest advancements and practices in injectables.
MYTH #2
I don’t have time to come in for Botox – it takes too much time.
TRUTH:
BOTOX can work with busy schedules. Treatment takes about 10 minutes and requires minimal downtime or recovery. Physician Skin Solutions offers Early Bird Botox hours on Tuesday & Thursday 8-9am. We are also open until 7 pm on Thursdays and offer convenient walk-in hours Monday 10 am to 2 pm, Tuesday 8 to 9 am, Thursday 8 to 9 am and 3 to 5:30 pm and Friday 9 am to 4 pm.
MYTH #3
BOTOX is only for women
TRUTH:
Not at all, we are increasingly seeing more men come into the office. Botox FDA-approved to treat all appropriate adults. In clinical studies for moderate to severe frown lines and crow’s feet, 17.5% and about 12%, respectively, of patients treated with BOTOX® Cosmetic were men.
MYTH #4
BOTOX is new and untested
TRUTH:
Not true. In 2002, BOTOX became the first FDA-approved product to temporarily improve moderate to severe frown lines. And in 2013, it became the first and only FDA-approved product to temporarily improve moderate to severe crow’s feet. Plus, it’s one of the most widely studied and researched medical aesthetic products.
MYTH #5
BOTOX is for your lips
TRUTH:
It’s definitely not approved for use in lips. BOTOX is approved to be injected around the sides of your eyes (for treatment of crow’s feet) or between your brows (for treatment of frown lines).
