Restore and rejuvenate skin with the powerful thermo-mechanical Tixel treatment at Physician Skin Solutions at Arrowhead in Glendale, AZ!
Tixel is an innovative skin resurfacing technology that works with a new method of thermos-mechanical ablative (TMA) technology. Tixel simply produces desirable results on the skin surface by the direct use of heat.
The Tixel applies controlled heat at a high temperature to the skin through what is called Thermo-Mechanical Ablation (TMA) technology. A small 1 cm square Titanium plate that consists of a matrix of 81 tiny pyramid-shaped pins is applied to the skin’s surface in a stamping pattern at a precisely controlled speed. The pins deliver thermal energy at a very high temperature (400 degrees Celsius) in brief millisecond pulses in a fractional mode, meaning small zones are treated surrounded by normal skin.
Fractional treatments minimize skin reactions, complications and improve healing times compared to treating all the skin at once.
Tixel creates deep or shallow micro-channels of ‘controlled damage’ to the skin, stimulating a healing process that boosts collagen production and aids in rejuvenation.
Its non-ablative mode, which heats within the skin’s upper dermis while protecting the outer layer, creates permeable ‘open’ channels, which can assist in the transfer of topical serums and agents into the skin for up to 6 hours.
The heated Tixel® pyramid head instantly evaporates the water and excess tissue from the top layers of skin, so there is an immediate skin tightening.
One of the most significant benefits is that we can safely treat the entire eyelid without using interocular lenses. That is because the Tixel uses heat and is not a laser. It is our “go to” for aging eyes.
Most patients report seeing results quickly. However, complete results won’t be seen for 3-4 months because of the time required for neocollagenesis.
It depends on your skin’s condition, goals, and treatment intensity. Most patients do well with three to four treatments.
It is a comfortable procedure. The titanium plate is hot, but it only touches the skin briefly. Our practice manager believes this is one of the most comfortable procedures in the office.
Downtime will vary with treatment intensity. However, most patients report being red and slightly swollen for a day or two. When treating the eyes, the chance of swelling is higher. Also, you may want to stop blood thinners, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oils, etc., four to five days before your treatment to minimize the chance of bruising.
